As the Canadian economy picks up pace to get things back to normal, a lot of confusion is seen to be floating in the minds of international students who are engaged in essential services. Here’s all that you need to know!

The Canadian Immigration, under the proficient guidance of Marco Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, recently declared that the limitation for international students to work for 20 hours has now been barred till the month of August. It implied that the international students who are engaged in the essential services sector are now free to work full-time and earn extra money while pursuing their education.

This significant move came as a part of managing the COVID-19 crisis in Canada. However, as the government is gradually lifting restrictions that were put into place due to the pandemic, a lot of confusing thoughts are seen to be floating in the minds of international students who were working full-time in essential services sector.

There have been rumors that the pandemic is now over and there is no clear demarcation between essential and non-essential services. So, the international students must stop working full time.

However, this is not the case at all. There has been no such official information from the Canadian government that the international students who are engaged in essential services must stop working full-time.

Hence, until further notice, the international can feel free to continue working full time in the essential services sector such as healthcare sector, frontline workers, transportation, supply chain, food distribution, and retail to name a few.
