Planning to move to Canada for pursuing your further education? Here is all that you need to know about the new Student Visa rules!

The Canadian government has always been supportive towards the international students who come to study in Canada, and the new Canada Student Visa rules stand testament to the same.

Under the proficient guidance of Marco Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, the Canadian Immigration has decided that the Student Visas will be processed under two parts now, which include Eligibility Criteria and Admissibility Criteria.

This great move came in view of the COVID-19 pandemic owing to which most of the Student Visas were delayed since almost the last three months. The Canadian Immigration recently shared that the international students who had submitted their entire visa application along with the biometrics and medical exam, will receive their visas shortly. However, non-essential travel to Canada is still restricted.

Here is all that you need to know about the new Student Visa Rules.

Eligibility Criteria: Since the Biometrics process is not taking place at the moment, the Canadian Immigration has decided that you can apply for your Student Visa as soon as you receive an approval for meeting the eligibility criteria. This signifies that you can start your education at any Canadian College or University after getting approval on meeting the eligibility criteria. And guess what? This would not even hamper your prospects for getting a Work Permit in Canada. Moreover, the Canadian government has also reaffirmed that even if you complete 50% of your studies in India, you will still be eligible for the Post Graduate Work Permit.

Admissibility Process: The next-step after meeting the Eligibility Criteria is the Admissibility process which includes maintaining a record of Biometrics, Criminal Records and Medical Test. One important thing to keep in mind here is that even if you meet the Eligibility Criteria and get a green flag to start your virtually classes in any Canadian College or University, do not start your classes if you are unsure if you will be to pass the admissibility process, or else you would not receive any refund from the College or University.

So, we can conclude by saying that it seems that your wait for studying in Canada will soon be over. Don’t lose hope and put your best foot forward!
