Here’s the success story of Indian student, Rakesh who came to Montreal with a heart full of dreams and translated them into a reality with the help of Montreal College of Information and Technology!

The largest city in Canada’s Québec province, Montreal is seen to be a hub for international students to pursue higher education and hone their skills in different fields of expertise.

Montreal is home to an array of top-notch colleges and universities, and one such distinguished college in Montreal is the Montreal College of Information Technology (MCIT).

An institute of higher learning focused on delivering intensive, job-ready IT programs, MCIT hosts a lot of international students each year.

So, we speak to one such international student, Rakesh about his experience of completing a Software Testing and Quality Assurance program from MCIT.

Hailing his roots from Andhra Pradesh, Rakesh pursued a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication from R.M.K Engineering College, Chennai and after that he completed a one-year Diploma in Cloud Computing from Bengaluru which led him to a decent job as a Manual Tester at IBM.

However, it was his zeal to learn more that led him to MCIT and ever since then, there has been no turning back.

“I always wanted to go out and explore the myriad opportunities that are available on an international level and improve my skills. I have always admired the cordial environment of Canada which led to me explore more about IT courses here. That’s when I came across MCIT and I found out that the institution had a lot of positive reviews and it had interesting courses as well. So, I decided to take admission in MCIT”, shares Rakesh.

He further quips, “I enrolled myself for the Software Testing and Quality Assurance program at MCIT, which basically has eight months of classes and four months of project, wherein you can also do an internship that eventually makes you eligible for the Work Permit. This course offered me a sound learning of Selenium and Java which is really advanced and demanding in the field of Software Testing. So, I found this program to be best suited as per my skillset and needless to say, it stood up to my expectations. We had instructors coming from Fortune 500 companies, who gave a real industry view and gave me ample of opportunities to learn and grow.”

Rakesh came to Montreal with his cousin and found out that it is a really student-friendly destination with nominal living expenses and a great standard of living.

“After being in Montreal for quite some time now, I think that it is a great place to live in; especially for international students. To add to it, the MCIT team has also proved to be the beacon of light for me at Montreal. They have guided me through every step, starting from the basics of understanding the transportation system to finding part-time jobs while studying and earning a living”, shares Rakesh who got placed with Hitachi Security Systems as a Quality Assurance Specialist as soon as he completed his program at MCIT, and received his Post-graduate Work Permit in a mere time span of two months.

The Quebec Immigration recently shared that it is going to launch a specific Immigration program with primary focused on Information Technology, Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence, which speaks volumes about the spurring demand of IT professionals in Quebec.
