The COVID-19 crisis had initially brought the entire world to a standstill. However, things are now slowly getting back to normal as the Canadian government has started lifting most of the restrictions that were put into place to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.
If we talk about the situation in Montreal, most of restrictions have been lifted, except for recreational activities such as malls, movie theaters etc.

Who can enter?
You can enter Canada if your immediate family member is a Permanent Resident or a Citizen of the country. Immediate family members include spouse, common law partner, parents, and grandparents.

When can you enter?
You can now enter Canada if you wish to visit your immediate family members. However, you need to ensure that you have a well-articulated quarantine or self – isolation plan for the first fifteen days after arriving in Canada. In addition to that, the temporary foreign workers who have a valid job letter and a Work Visa approved before 18th March can also come to Canada. The same goes for international students who got their Study Visa approved before 15th March. They can now travel to Canada if their home country has given a green flag for operating international flights.

What can be the duration of stay in Canada?
The minimum duration of stay if you plan to come to Canada is 15 days. Before coming to Canada, you need to declare your reason of visit, duration of stay and self – isolation plan.
However, the Honorable Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau recently also gave certain directions to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to allow people who want to come to Canada for less than 15 days, if they have a genuine reason. So, if you want to come to Canada for less than 15 days, you need to seek a prior approval letter from IRCC.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has also made necessary quarantine arrangements for people traveling to Canada from abroad. So, if you do not have a self-isolation plan in place, you can also resort to the quarantine arrangements made by the government.
